Finally

Leopard scarf, Marshalls-you can add this scarf to ANY outfit it will make it fabulous! Jacket, Forever 21. Knit dress, Target. Brown ribbed tights, Hue. Boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs.

After almost 2 years of ebay stalking, I have acquired the sister of my MJ boots-the infamous Marc by Marc "soccer" boots. It took 4 days of anxiety, actually I was the only bidder. paid a little over 10% the orginal price tag and the boots have never been worn! I'm so happy. I am going to wear them everywhere...even if they do make me tower over my bf :-)

Happy Holidays!!!!!

OTKs

After hours of searching on the internet and working with incompetent sales people, I finally secured the perfect pair of over-the-knee leather boots. The soft leather and long shaft that ended a couple inches over the knee (as opposing to grazing my kneecap) were the key features that made me happy with my purchase and comfortable forking over $140 dollars (that was after a 20% discount code and $40 giftcard, mind you). Sorry for the terrible pics. There's no pic from the side but they have a 3.5 inch heel, a little low in today's standards but I preferred the lower heel to offset any streetwalker vibe over-the-knee may bring. I'm so in love.

Boots, Guess by Marciano. Hair extensions, my old roommate's that my boyfriend hates that were only in my hair for a week so I could go to a party and look ridiculous(ly good).

Battle of the Brands

ShopIttoMe
did a battle of the brand's contest and BCBG won! I was surprised by some of the results...Alexander Wang and Elizabeth & James didn't make it past the first round? But I can totally understand BCBG winning. BCBG is affordable and their runway collections are easy to wear. I can't say the same for brands like Opening Cermony and Alexander Wang, even though I love their uniqueness. I suppose in this economy practicality wins above all.

Balmain for Bebe

Yup, that's my belly button down there.

B for B is just a cute way of saying, look at my new knock-off Balmain top from Bebe! :-) Unlike the dress featured lower on the page, the back is consistent with the lace, sequin action. Nice.

The Box

Hey y'all, since I am not really posting here anymore I have started posting to my tumblr more. It's a 100x faster and easier to update and maintain. I don't really do outfit posts, it's more of just what I think is interesting going on in the fashion or pop culture world. I also try to post interesting images and an occasional quote. So if you want to check it out, here's the link

http://laurensbox.tumblr.com/
as I said before, it's kind of of like me, stream-of-consciousness style. And maybe we share some interests and you will enjoy the tumblog.

and if you want to help me with the html so I can put links in the right-hand column I will love you forever...

my shoe closet plus the issue I acknowledge in every post

Shoes, Nine West.

In my new apartment, I am blessed enough to have 2 closets. One walk-in, for clothes. The second, for shoes! My dad brought me some shelves yesterday so I could get started. The only problem was that most of my heels didn't fit in all of the shelves upright, so I had to turn them on their sides. Oh well. I also need about 2 more shelves to fit the complete collection. Nonetheless, I am very happy with the results...enjoy!!!

Shoes from left to right: Nine West, BCBGMaxAzria, BCBGirls

Boots from left to right: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Gianni Bini, Steven Madden, Chinese Laundry

Just to show I do own flats lol.

About my absence...
I know I don't blog as much as I used to. To my readers, I'm sorry. My interest at fashion is still high, but lately I haven't felt like blogging. I think it's a mix of reasons. For starters, I'm in professional school and it's quite time-consuming. Also, I have a new boyfriend and it's the classic story of how a girl can go MIA. Last of all, I think I'm getting over the whole share my outfits with the world thing. Some of it's attributed to some of my favorite blogs, the blogs that inspired me to write a blog, becoming increasingly vain. No longer is it about the clothes but a whole "look-at-me, I'm a celebrity, see my paparazzi style pics" but really they were taken by a mom or a boyfriend. It's not longer about the clothes now...it's about you. Not cool.

Perhaps I also used to blog for self-confidance...it's nice having a thing that I can do well and receive praise for. But I realize, clothes aren't everything, looking nice is important to me but it's not everything either, so now it's hard for me to justify having a high-maintenance blog. However, it is still not hard for me to justify a high price tag. :-)

So...my interest in fashion lives on, strong, but this blog may be dwindling. Forgive me.

oh wow

Oh Bebe. You steal my heart. The price doesn't kill either. Too bad the back is plain and too bad I have more party dresses than I know what to do with. I need to go back to the city!

P.S. I love how the whole lookbook's based on being sloshed at a party. Just my scene, lol.

Orgami

Hey guys! Medical school has started and things have been a bit crazy. I'll be honest, lately I have not been in the blogging mood. But while getting ready this morning something sparked in my head, so I whipped out the tripod for a quick outfit shot. Today's outfit is nothing remarkable, but I do appreciate the large, orgami -like flowers that adorn the vest and I hope you do too! :-)

Vest, random brand from Marshalls. Shirt, Zara. Corduroy shorts, J.Crew. Necklace, gift.

The Men in My Life

My new Kenneth Cole handbag!!! Isn't it to die for? The leather is so soft. I first saw this bag in Soho with Adrienne. It was half-off, yet still a bit pricey for me. When I visited it again on 5th ave, the store manager promised me it would be marked down again. This weekend was the time! I picked it up for almost a third of the original price. I LOVE MY NEW BAG!!! It is actually not as big as it looks...pictures of it out and about to come!!!

Also...Grazia magazine shot an awesome Michael Jackson inspired shoot. How cool is that? Credit: Deeelightful

Lovestruck

I need this dress. Right.

Approximately 30 seconds after finishing my last blog post, I checked my email and opened up this newsletter from topshop. Then I was lovestruck. The dress on the right...exaggerated shoulders, long-sleeved, short, black. Perfect. Unfortunately, despite being in the email I have yet to see it on the website yes. Step 1-locate dress. Step 2-afford dress. Will step 2 even be possible? It's probably price around $100-$120 dollars. That's about $50 dollars more than I can afford (and $80 more than what I want to pay). Sigh. Well, I shouldn't give up on the dream yet. I haven't see the price and I did score the Mario Schwab dress.

baby picture from email. I visited Topshop in Soho last week but didn't take pictures. It was 3 levels and gorgeous. But the price point is too high to walk in and go crazy, you know? so I walked out empty-handed.
